May and June rail strikes: applying for a temporary parking E-Permit

Further RMT and Aslef strike action is due to take place across the rail network on Friday 12 May, Saturday 13 May, Wednesday 31 May and Saturday 3 June 2023.

Southern Rail has stated that it does not yet know exactly how the industrial action will affect its service, but the standard advice is to travel only if absolutely necessary on those days and to expect disruption.

Staff and students whose journeys are likely to be affected by the rail strikes, and who do not already have an E-Permit to park on campus, may apply for temporary parking E-Permits valid for Friday 12 May and Wednesday 31 May. If you require a temporary permit, please email centralparking@brighton.ac.uk to apply, with the dates you require an E-Permit.

All parking restrictions will apply to temporary permit holders, including the requirement of staff to pay the £2 daily parking charge.

However, please note that parking spaces are limited on campus and being allocated an E-Permit does not guarantee that a parking space will be available on any specific day. Parking at our Falmer campus experiences particularly high demand.

E-Permit holders can park at any University car park and travel to the campus by other means; for example, parking at the Moulsecoomb Parking facility and catching a public bus (which run approximately every six minutes along the Lewes Road), or the UB1 during term time, to Falmer.
