Fire rescue training exercise at Mithras Halls 23 February

University of Brighton students and accommodation staff volunteers will take part in an East Sussex Fire & Rescue training exercise on Thursday, 23 February at 10.30am. This will be hosted by our residential management partners, ULiving. The exercise venue is Goldstone Hall, in Mithras Residences.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will simulate a kitchen fire on 7th floor enabling fire service personnel to implement their new Breathing apparatus high rise procedures.

Non-hazardous, synthetic smoke will be used to add realism to the exercise. There will be 7 fire appliances attending with additional officer cars.

Access to Mithras House, Mithras Gym and the Venue, Student Union bar will not be affected. Emergency vehicles will be parked on the Lewes Road, to minimise disruption.

The training exercise will last approximately 2 hours. East Sussex Fire & Rescue Joint Control will be informed to manage any “good intent” telephone calls.

Exercise information signage will be placed at street level to inform our local neighbours, street, and vehicle users.
