Checking in with you survey

Take part in the Checking In With You survey (November 2022)

As you settle into the semester, I would like to invite you to take part in the Checking in With You survey, which we introduced last year to help us continue providing the best possible experience and support to our students. The survey explores your sense of belonging at the University, looks at how engaged you are with your studies, and how confident you are that you will achieve your full potential, and asks about your financial wellbeing.

The survey takes just 5 minutes to complete, and you will be entered into a prize draw to win one of ten £10 Unicard top-ups.

Your voice shapes our university

Your Voice Shapes Our University graphic

At Brighton, your voice shapes our university. Please take the time to let us know what is working for you in terms of these themes, as well as areas you think can be enhanced.

As a university, we are committed to helping you succeed in your studies so that you can make the most of your time with us and beyond and ensuring all students feel part of an inclusive community. The survey’s themes reflect our supportive approach. In response to student feedback from previous surveys, we have:

  • We expanded the welcome and welcome back experience through Belong at Brighton
  • Funded activities to help you connect with your course
  • Developed dedicated support for your financial wellbeing
  • Created a one-stop shop for study skills guides and personalised support
  • Established consistency in how information you need about learning and teaching activities is shared through your module area on My Studies
  • We are continuing our programme to roll out lecture capture across campus, to provide you with recorded lectures, where possible
  • Paid opportunities for students to shape our university by being an Inclusive Practice Partner or Digital Learning Partner
  • Ongoing work to create a curriculum that reflects the diversity of our students through the Inclusive Practice Partnerships Scheme
  • Established greater consistency between central and School-level communications
  • Introduced the #NeverOK pledge to uphold a safe and respectful environment for all

As ever, we are committed to listening to you and working in partnership to create the best experience possible for all our students.

This survey asks for your feedback on your recent experiences. Please tell us about the period from just before you arrived at the University, to joining and experiencing Welcome Week (or welcoming you back as a returning student), up to and including your learning experiences over the first few weeks of term.

All your responses will be confidential, but I guarantee that they will all be read by a real person and used to shape our university for you.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
