Susie Styles helps you dress for success
Last week local Brighton stylist Susie Styles came to the university to give students advice about looking fashionable yet professional at work.
Susie, a London College of Fashion graduate, has worked with the likes of Stella McCartney and Adidas Women and spoke to students at the Moulsecoomb campus offering interview style advice. She gave us her top tips for making the best first impression with future employers.
- 55% of first impression is visual – decide how you want to be seen at work
- Think of yourself as your own personal billboard
- Keep your outfit simple – use black, white and grey as the foundation. Then accessorise with colour or print ties, scarves and jewelry to show a hint of personality.
- Neat and tidy shoes are really important. They’re often exposed during an interview and holes, mud and scuffs will be noticed.
- Your coat is often the first thing people see when you walk in – make sure that it’s presentable, clean and smart. Trench coats always look professional.
