Stress busters

In the lead up to exam and deadline period, we spoke to the Counselling and Wellbeing team to find out their tips for dealing with stress.

Stop to think

Take five minutes to think about your day and gain perspective of the revision you need to do or essay you need to write. Planning and time management will help keep you on track.

Get some rest

Stress can affect your sleep but there are ways to deal with that. Writing all your thoughts down before you go to bed, spraying lavender on your pillow, deep breathing and going for a walk are just a few things that you can do to avoid missing out on your forty winks.

Exercise

Vent any stress or frustration you’re feeling by going for a run, kicking a ball around with your friends or trying one of Sport Brighton’s activities. See what’s on at your campus here.

Eat well

Swap takeaways for healthy meals with your friends. The Food Co-Op sells veg boxes each week for just £4.

Talk to someone

Don’t internalise your stress, talk about it. A problem shared is often a problem halved so talk to your friends, your family, your tutor, even your cat.

These tips are here to help but if you’re in need of further support, visit the Student Services website for more information or you could speak to your campus SSGT. There are also various workshops organised by Student Services that include stress awareness and classes to avoid procrastination.
