B&W Film Processing
For non-photography students only.
Every week we develop black and white films free of charge for non-photography students. If you want film developing by PVU staff it will usually be done for you within a week (we usually develop films every Thursday or Friday morning so drop them off by Wednesday evening).
Please note all the films are developed in a large tank together (in complete darkness) and we have no way of knowing whose is whose- make sure you remember what you took photographs of so that you can recognise your negatives when you collect them!
To use this service please hand your film(s) to a member of staff in the Photo Unit and your processed negatives will be ready to collect within a week of you handing in your film. All processed negatives will be hanging in either the grey or blue drying cabinets in room 241 when you come to collect them. Please ensure you only take your own negatives and not anyone elses by mistake!
We cannot process black and white films that are marked with C41, such as Ilford XP2, because these films are processed in colour chemistry (C41).
We do additionally run Workshop Inductions for those students who are interested in learning how to process their own films. Check our Workshop Sign-Ups page or please ask a member of staff in the Photo Video Unit.
