Photograms: (Black and White Darkroom Room 241)
A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light. The usual result is a negative shadow image that shows variations in tone that depends upon the transparency of the objects used. Areas of the paper that have received no light appear white; those exposed through transparent or semi-transparent objects appear grey. The technique is sometimes called cameraless photography.
PLEASE BRING ALONG TO THE WORKSHOP ANY ITEMS YOU WOULD LIKE TO USE IN YOUR PHOTOGRAMS i.e feathers, leaves, materials, pressed flowers.
DATES TBC
1:1 Scanning Induction: (Photographic Service Unit Room 241)

Please bring your set of negatives and a USB stick or external hard drive to save your images onto at the end of the session. You can scan negatives at 35mm, 120 or 5×4 sizes as well as slide film.

Cyanotypes (Photographic Service Unit Room 241)

Cyanotype is an ultraviolet light sensitive printing process. It uses a mixture of iron compounds that react when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, and when washed in water will oxidize to create the Prussian Blue image.
Please bring with you any objects / negatives / digital negatives to use in the cyanotype workshop – semi-transparent items work the best petals, lace, feathers etc.
