April 11

Canals

Spreading across the land
Like veins
All that water and steel

I cannot help but admire
The workmanship
Hours of dedicated labour

A once thriving industry
Floating joyfully
Toward the next gate

April 10

Voices

I could kiss your face forever
And I probably will
Your dimples deepen
As you chuckle
At my accent attempts
Birmingham, Liverpool and London
Sound the same
The only time my impression
Rings true
Is an occasional
Westcountry twang
Unintentionally

I sound like my Dad

April 9

Green glass

Combing the beach in early evening
The streetlight glow and glass gleaming
I search for weathered bottle
Shards amongst the pebbles
Most are clear but the
Green I hold dear
A misty
Tear drop
Rolls

April 8

GirlBoss

Platformed electric blue
Appliqued shoes
Bejewelled
Space bunned glittered ‘do

The disjoint
Between scene queen dreams
And honesty grows
I want to be content

With nothing
Live humbly beside
My writing
In Brighton

But my eyes are drawn
To the neon lights
Fashion heights
Influencer life

April 7

Hail

Hail beat the ground
We lounged
On the bed
Listening to the strikes

The pavement outside
Smelt like the harbour below
The forecast said snow
We pulled up the duvet

Watching documentaries
About train journeys
And food tourism
Exploring the good life

We found it alright
