Malagiri 10-year anniversary impact report

We are delighted to share a report with you that has been compiled to mark the Malagiri School’s 10th anniversary.

The school was opened in April 2011, offering the village children an education for the very first time. 64 children now attend and 71 former pupils are continuing their education in schools nearby.

This is a fantastic achievement and could not have happened without the generous and unfailing support of friends, family, University of Brighton staff, students and alumni.

Sadly, the school now faces a huge challenge as the impact of COVID-19 is currently having a devastating impact across Nepal.

Aneeta Tamang, the former headteacher, recently described the situation to us: “We are going through a very critical situation in Nepal. Every day there are many more people getting infected and many dying too…. we are in Lockdown.

“Just praying for people and hoping we will get better situation soon.”

We are working closely with the school as well as the charitable trust in Nepal to provide whatever support we can during this very difficult period.

We really hope that you enjoy reading all about the school’s amazing journey.
