The Unheimlich (uncanny)is rooted in the German word for home. The people, places, and things we are most familiar with have strange lives of their own. Familiar spaces can be terrains ripe for exploration.
I began working on these stop-motion animated sequences during my residency at Outpost Studios last December. Outpost Studios is part of a crumbling Brutalist complex in Norwich, and these sequences explore the strange presence of the barren utopian architecture.
