Stream of Consciousness

Stream of consciousness is a piece attempting to visualise the concept of a broken machine that could once tune in and out of individual feelings but is now defunct. It is an exploration of ‘intrusive thoughts’ and the way in which they dip in and out of your stream of consciousness as they please; paying no mind to the interruption they cause to the usual steady flow.

As Alan Watts said “This world is a great wiggly affair. People are always trying to straighten things out. They’re always trying to put things in boxes. Those boxes are classifiers, pigeonholes. Words are labels on boxes.” I felt ‘wiggles’ or amorphic forms to be an accurate depiction of what I imagined the physical manifestation of feelings to be.
