In my paintings I work from emotive memories with the intention to create re-representations of subjects to capture a precise visual event and the emotional qualities that come with it. The natural and exaggerated sensitivity towards subject matter shows up a great deal within the work, showcasing a willingness within the struggle of painting to express my feelings and further understand my subject matter. As emotional beings of observation I find visual experience’s in life can heavily influence us, fuelling our emotions and sometimes broadening our perspectives on life. The challenge of trying to animate these intense visual moments is one I’m trying to tackle in my practice, I can only hope that the viewer creates a profound connection through experiencing my paintings, as they do try to resonate as honest images of substance.
