WW2 Utilitarian style
Researching into utilitarian clothing I learnt about the arrival of the Utility clothing scheme in 1942 and the ‘CC41’ logo put in place by the british board of trade, this logo gave the public a guarantee of quality and value for their money and coupons. Looking into the style of these garments at the time they were both practical and durable as well as stylish with the woman’s suits having puffed shoulder, bell bottom cuffs and detachable belts and piping decoration. For our sustainable collection we would also like our brand to achieve this my taking inspiration from traditional and modern designs to create clothing that is helpful and practical as well at stylish.
