FW also use clothing and patterns to camouflage to show a fusion of space integration as a whole.

For example, in these two works, FW leaned against a wall rugged like fish bone and she was wearing a grass leaf pattern dress, her right hand was holding a fish bone spines to decor her bare and smooth back, it echoes the stripes of the wall. She was intoxicated integrate with the wall.

She was lying in the bathtub, the check pattern of the floor and the cement pipeline stains of the wall, all of these make people feel inexplicable horror.

Bathtub = Uterus

Lying in the bathtub = Lying in the coffin like uterus.

This seems to imply that she can return to the space of maternal integration only by death,  FW in her photograph to show her pursuit of life and care, and the desire of return to mother.

Louis Wain’s unique cats

Louis Wain

An English artist whom was also schizophrenic, was obsessed with cats, and actually thought that cats purported traits of schizophrenia.

1.

This is how Louis began drawing his cats, very simply, they were cats in human situations and nothing more.

2.

In his early stage, we can see the background began to appear complex lines.

This strange pattern is the main element of his hallucination .

3.

As time continued, he developed his cat into more anthropomorphic measure, meaning they began to resemble humans much more.

(abstract the shape of lines and colour blocks)

(Smile like human, and clothing)

4.

These images are very similar to the fatal images popularised by later computer graphics.

The first signs of Wain’s schizophrenic decline began after his mother’s death. The progressive escape of reality towards delusion is expressed in these pictures, he was affected by an unknown mental disorder.

(How normal people see it.)                    (How Louis wain see it.)

Try to draw “The scream” in my way.

Edward Munch

He used colour and shape to describe his imagination, rather than the real world. There was a scrawled little print in ‘The Scream’:

“only a madman can draw it.”

The intense sensory experience and auditory hallucinations of anxiety increased his “talent”.

I’m trying to The Scream in my own way, not a colour painting, just black white and grey with many many lines.

Van Gogh’s well known pieces of works

Starry night 1889

This is one of Van Gogh‘s most well known pieces of work. Unlike the majority of his work Starry night was painted from memory and not out in the landscape.

I tried to draw this painting in 10mins… Everything in this painting should moving and spinning in Van Gogh’s eyes.

Many great works are often created in the state of the artist’s mental disorder. The painting “Irises” was created bin hie time the madhouse. Van Gogh saw a cluster of Irises on the outside through the fence, the beauty of life around him, he completed painting in the despair and hope, pain and relief to find a balance.

After he discharged, although his life was very clam but his heart was very entanglement, the complex emotional and mental illness make him feel fear and helplessness. The wheat swing in the wind, the ravens like dreadful stains fly though the sky, makes him hard to breath. He completed the painting in grief and emptiness.

Kenzo | Eyes

A different space of all secretive eyes.

In different cultural, eye has a very different meaning. The Eye of Horus in Egyptian mythology has a divine meaning, while the legendary evil eye in European and American culture mean a vicious glance can lead to misfortune, disease and even death, and later became a amulet.

In traditional Chinese culture, the eye is basically not as decorative patterns, it is a symbol of spirituality. It is very prudent to add an eye to an inanimate creature.

We don’t know what were whey expressing behind the mask, maybe the model was laughing her ass off, like we don’t really know what people is thinking about or what is the real meaning behind their faces and every world.

Thierry Mugler | Fairy tale

Thierry Mugler Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1997

His fashion show is just like a fairy tale and full of mystery. His designs can be like elfin, insect tiger and even sorcerer. The video “Birds of Paradise” has been a popular theme. The butterfly dress us a link to created butterfly, women and bird in a surreal creation that emphasises the women’s uniqueness and exotic nature.

In those days (1997), women were compared to birds, the symbol of innocence and lightness.
