Getting creative in the first week of term
Students on our Early Childhood Education and Care BA(Hons) had a great start to their university studies as part of the Belong at Brighton week.
To ensure they quickly settled in, course leader Dr Lesleann Whiteman, arranged a day of bonding activities supported by the School of Education’s technicians Sam and Kayleigh. This was just one of the many activities the university and Brighton Students’ Union arrange in the first week of term to ensure students get off to the best possible start.
Using the schools many specialist facilities and resources the new cohort of students took part in a range of activities including designing t-shirts, key fobs and experimenting with one of our robots.
Course leader Dr Lesleann Whiteman (pictured right) said: “The activities for the new students provided an opportunity to collaborate with some creative thinking and practical design work in the Belong at Brighton week. They helped promote team building and eradicate any social barriers.”
The students had a great time and really appreciated a fun way to bond with the group:
“I liked the fact that it supported our class in creating bonds and a good relationship, we were able to have a laugh with one another.”
“I liked the freedom to choose what we wanted to do and how it allowed us to be creative.”
“It was nice to spend some time getting to mingle with others.”
