Crossing Cultures will be hosting a series of once monthly talks/presentations/discussions.
The sessions aim to support the sharing of experiences and creative practices within the school and to reflect a diverse and inclusive learning community.
The planned Crossing Cultures discussion for this Wednesday has a change of line-up, The talk by River Sweeney has been postponed, which we will look forward to re-introducing in the future and in the meantime we are excited to present a talk by Lucia King at the same time of 1.30 pm this Wednesday 2nd in the Crossing Cultures Teams
Lucia King will discuss the transnational network of artists, film-makers and curators that she founded with co-director, Rashmi Sawhney in 2015, “VisionMix”, which has 30 associate members based in India and others internationally, see link:https://www.visionmix.info/
Having produced many large-scale exhibitions, research events and smaller platforms for exchange, Lucia would like to share the thinking behind the network’s curatorial methods, also showing excerpts from a documentary film that profiles the work of some of the artists belonging to the network. Organising exhibitions in the current climate in India, and (more recently) in Taiwan, comes with specific challenges and opportunities for vital collaboration. VisionMix’s exhibitions also combine gallery-based audience participation, as well as online film programming and talks, in which students have also engaged. These initiatives will be discussed by way of sharing and exploring practices with colleagues.
