Motoharu Asaka is a Master Woodblock Carver in the 400-yearold
Japanese ukiyo-e tradition. He has more than 45 years
experience, including commissions from national museums and
leading contemporary artists. During this evening’s event we
will be able to inspect a selection of Motoharu’s work. His
assistant and translator Louise Rouse will also introduce a tenminute
video that she has been making about the papermakers of Echizen,
in Japan’s Fukui Prefecture
