Jaye Ho’s practice sheds light on overlooked personal histories resulting from global conflicts. The series entitled The Vanishing Act, depicts her aunts, and shines a light on their experiences of the Japanese occupation in South East Asia during World War II.

The Mosaic Art Award, culminatedwith a special presentation of ten works by the shortlisted artists, on view at Hauser & Wirth in London between November 21st and 22nd, 2023. The ten artists taking part in this year’s Mosaic Art Award are Arshi Irshad Ahmadzai, Becky Beasley, Leah Clements, Nicola Ellis, Lydia Gifford, Jaye Ho, Linjing Peng, Rosa-Johan Uddoh, Ravi Vasavan, and SharonWalters.

The Mosaic Art Award offers an alternative to the art world’s approach to diversity and inclusiveness, by celebrating differences and generating opportunities in line with the breadth of each artist’s practice. Mosaic was initially envisioned as an innovative platform to engage with individuals from underrepresented communities to help navigate their environments. The Mosaic Art Award aims to manifest and nurture change, normalize inclusion, and shift how we view artist representation across the art world, focusing attention on the abundance of diverse talent (which might not be regularly recognized).

Jaye Ho was one of the invited guests to talk at the University of Brighton’s Crossing Culture research event in 2021.
