Exploring the notion of space law: who owns outer space?

Date: Thursday 26 March 2026, 5-6pm (the session will be held on Microsoft Teams)

International space law is built on three core principles: no one can own space, it must be used peacefully, and activities should benefit all humankind.

These ideas were established in the 1960s, at a time before iPhones, artificial intelligence, commercial space companies, reusable rockets, or billionaires sending spacecraft into orbit. So how do these rules apply today in a rapidly changing space age?

This session will explore how space law is evolving to address the realities of modern space exploration.
