Start-Up Grants Now Available to University of Brighton Students and Graduates

Despite the devastating economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Brighton’s start-up community is very much thriving, as students and graduates are leading the way in creating new businesses and social enterprises – thanks to the support of Santander Universities and the Student Enterprise ‘beepurple’ team.

Following the completion of a four-day start-up course in June 2020 delivered by the beepurple team, 10 students and alumni were awarded Start-Up Grants, funded by Santander Universities, to help them turn their business ideas into reality.

The beepurple team, based within the Careers Service, is now delighted to announce a second round of Start-Up Grants, made possible with the generous support of Santander Universities.

A grants pot worth £16,180 is available exclusively for University of Brighton students and graduates (who have graduated between 2015 and 2020, inclusive).

The aim of this fund is to provide students and graduates with some start-up funds to enable them to start their own business or social enterprise, or to develop their existing venture, if they are already trading.

The fund can be used to pay towards product development costs, technical development costs (e.g. to purchase specialist equipment, software or web development support), intellectual property protection or marketing costs etc.

The size of each individual grant will be between £500 and £1000.

To apply for a Start-Up Grant, you must email a completed Application Form and Business Model Canvas to the beepurple team (beepurple@brighton.ac.uk) by midnight, 20 September. Please read the Guidance Notes about this grant scheme before you apply.

The beepurple team looks forward to reading your applications!
