“I loved my time in Brighton is a beautiful and vibrant city where to study. My influences for my final project are Tina Barney, Richard Billingham, Philip-Lorca di Corcia. However, I admire the work of photographers such as Nan Goldin, Alec Soth, and Ren Hang, which are the photographer which always inspire me.”
Hi Francesca please tell us a bit about your work and your influences
“My final project this year focused on family photography. In Italy for years it has been advertised a stereotype of families welcoming and happy, and with my work I wanted to challenge the typical idealisation showing the reality behind the perfection. My influences for this project are Tina Barney, Richard Billingham, Philip-Lorca di Corcia. However, I admire the work of photographers such as Nan Goldin, Alec Soth, and Ren Hang, which are the photographer which always inspire me.”
How have you found your course and time at Brighton?
“I loved my time in Brighton is a beautiful and vibrant city where to study. Unfortunately due to coronavirus the practical modules were not delivered as they are supposed to, so I was a bit disappointed, because in 3 years video and photography were the courses that I was focusing in the most. However, I was lucky enough to have brilliant teachers that made feel the coronavirus not such a problem.”
What made you choose Media Studies at Brighton?
“I chose media studies because it was offering a good balance between practical and theoretical subjects, and since I was undecided on what to study it looked as a good option.”
What are your plans after graduation?
“At the moment my plan is to find a job in the art industries here in Brighton. If I do not find anything I will consider to move in London or back home.”
