Anti-Racist Forum – make sure your voice is heard
On Tuesday 7th May 12:00-1:00 pm we are holding an Anti-Racist Forum online. Please take part so that your voice is heard. The School of Art and Media Anti-Racist Forum is a clear signal that we abhor racism in all its forms, and our ambition is to become an anti-racist and inclusive institution. However, we know that racism and racial inequalities are deeply rooted within society and so too within higher education institutions, including our own. We know we have much work to do and want to work in partnership with our students to listen, learn, and act on race equality – to create the change together.

What is happening?
On Tuesday 7th May, 12:00-1:00 pm you are invited to this event to discuss the work we are doing to become an anti-racist school, and the action we need to take.
The agenda will be in three parts:
- A brief update on progress of the university and school followed by Q&A, led by the Inclusive Practice Co-Leads;
- Listening to your voice and highlighting key areas we need to focus on, facilitated by the Student Inclusive Practice Partner;
- Summary and next steps.
Who is it for?
All School of Art and Media students (undergraduate/ postgraduate – taught and research). We need to hear the voices of all our students, independent of your race. It is important that we all stand united against racism and work together to tackle it.
How can I get involved?
When you sign up for the event, you will be able to submit the topics and questions that you think need to be discussed. The topics and questions posed will be anonymised to ensure a safe space.
Share the event with your friends and peers – encourage them to sign up too.
What if I can’t join this meeting?
We will share the outcomes afterwards, with clear next steps. This won’t be the last anti-racist forum – it is an ongoing journey to make our School inclusive for everyone.
