My Brighton – the new student portal

The My Brighton mobile app (Google Play, Apple Store) and the web portal (https://my.brighton.ac.uk) has been launched. My Brighton is the single place students go to access digital services and information such as access to their My Studies course and module areas.

All returning students have been emailed and encouraged to download the app to access the new student portal. New students will be invited to use My Brighton following online enrolment and directed to click on the My Studies tile for links through to their School and Course areas, where new student information will be available.

Staff are welcome to use My Brighton, but note, the email and calendar tools will not work for staff. More about My Brighton.

My Studies (was studentcentral)

My Studies continues to be the fundamental platform for supporting learning and teaching. It is reliable, provides a wide range of facilities and is familiar to both staff and students. Staff can continue to log in as usual, but you will notice the dual branding as we transition to My Studies: https://mystudies.brighton.ac.uk (the old address still works too!)

New features now available for 20/21 are:

1. Blackboard Ally

Blackboard Ally is now available to automate and support the delivery of accessible content within My Studies. Ally automatically converts content uploaded to My Studies to a variety of accessible formats as well as highlighting to staff any existing content that needs to be improved and providing guidance on how to resolve accessibility issues.

2. Changes in the Module Template 2020

Changes this summer include the addition of a link to Microsoft Teams and clear guidance for staff on how to use the template effectively. There is also a change from the use of the word ‘Grades’ to become ‘Marks’ eg ‘My Marks’. This template is now in place for any newly triggered 20/21 modules.

3. Panopto Video

Panopto is a new service that is being implemented to improve our ability to produce high quality pre-recorded learning content. Whilst Panopto offers live lecture capture and streaming capabilities it also provides a wide range of facilities for staff to easily create pre-recorded interactive video content that is automatically made available. Panopto is now available in all 2020 module areas.
