Charles Avery is a good reminder of not restricting yourself to one set style or medium.  

Each painting is different to another, meaning it gives the image more voice, and individuality.

The fact he does sculpture as well as producing very unique art seems to me, one of the more important things about his work. Not to confine yourself to one medium, but to expand, sculpture and art are two very different disciplines, both needing skill, patience and creativity.
