Changes to bus stops and cycle lane closure from 9 October – Mouslecoomb campus

There will be some temporary changes to bus stops and pedestrian and cycle routes through part of our Moulsecoomb campus as Brighton & Hove City Council carries out highway improvements starting from 9 October through to late December.

The work on Lewes Road will involve resurfacing of the carriageways in both directions, including bus and cycle lanes, between the junctions with Natal Road (by our pedestrian footbridge) and Coombe Road (by the Carpet Right store). Improvements will also be made to the pavements outside our Mithras Halls.

Bus passengers

The southbound bus stops outside Brunswick Hall (‘Natal Road’) will be temporarily closed. If you’re arriving at Moulsecoomb campus by bus from Falmer or Varley Park, you’ll need to get off one stop earlier than usual, opposite Cockroft Building (‘Brighton University’). If you’re heading into the city centre from Moulsecoomb campus, you can also walk down to the next bus stop at Coombe Road.

Cyclists

The road will be reduced to a single lane southbound, merging both the bus and cycle lanes to accommodate the temporary pathway for pedestrians and works area. Please take extra care when travelling in this area and ensure your bike is equipped with lights as the evenings become darker earlier.

Pedestrians

A clearly marked temporary pathway along this section of Lewes Road will be in place throughout the works. Access to Mithras Halls, Mithras House, Sport Brighton Gym & Fitness Centre and The Venue will not be affected.
