Exam reminders for semester 2 exams

Check what to bring for an exam and know the rules you need to follow.

What to bring

  • You should bring your UniCard as proof of identity. If you do not have your UniCard, please bring another form of photo id such as your passport or photocard driving licence.
  • You should only take the minimum amount of personal belongings into the examination room. If mobile phones, watches (smart or otherwise), headphones or other electronic devices are brought to an exam they must be switched off before entering the exam room and placed in the clear plastic bag provided under your desk for the duration of the exam.
  • If you wish to bring a water bottle to your exam please ensure it is see-through and without a label.
  • You must equip yourself with pens/pencils as necessary for your exams as these will not be provided. Pencil cases should be see-through and without labels.

Travelling to your exam

  • Check your journey into campus at least the day before your exam. Check for local transport services in case of industrial action or earlier times for availability.
  • For those travelling by car, check ahead for traffic or roadworks – at time of writing, the A27 has roadworks which are adding time to commuting journeys. Finally, consider extra time for parking – you really don’t want to be late and add unnecessary stress.
  • It is very important that you attend the correct exam room. You should carefully note the exam room you need to attend from the exam timetable. If you have an LSP and you have been timetabled into a small group or individual room, you will have been emailed separately with details of your room.
  • Please arrive promptly to your examination. You will be permitted to enter the exam room 10 minutes before the exam is due to start. You will not be permitted to sit the exam if you arrive more than 30 minutes after the start time.

Once in the exam room…

  • You will need to carefully enter your correct student number on your exam paperwork in the exam room. Your 8 digit student number can be found below your name on your UniCard.
  • You must carefully read all instructions on your exam question paper and exam answer stationery.
  • It may be necessary for windows to be opened at times to aid ventilation in exam rooms, please dress appropriately to ensure your comfort during the exam.
  • The wearing of face coverings is a matter of personal choice, invigilators may request that a face covering is momentarily removed to allow an identity check to be carried out.

Regulations and useful resources

You are expected to observe University regulations for the conduct of examinations and assessments. A copy of the exam room regulations will be posted on the door of the exam room and are also available to view under section B.13 of GEAR 2023-24
