Don't waste, donate! Food donation points.

Donate your food this Christmas

Are you returning home for Christmas? Or have food left in your cupboards?

Why not help your local community this Christmas by donating food and toiletries at one of the donation points found in your halls. Your small contribution will help feed one of hundreds of people visiting Bevendean food bank and Phoenix food shop this winter.

Where will my donations be going?

This year, the University is supporting two local food banks, Bevendean food bank and Phoenix food shop.

Bevendean Food Bank

Bevendean Food Bank is run by volunteers and helps people and families in Lower and Upper Bevendean, Saunders Park, Meadow View and Lewes Road corridor.

This Christmas, they are in particular need of tinned veg, beans, sauces, small jars of coffee, sugar, pasta and rice.

If you drop off your donations to Varley Park, Great Wilkins, Paddock Fields you will be supporting Bevendean Food Bank.

Phoenix Food Shop

Phoenix Food Shop is located next to Phoenix Halls in central Brighton and provide food for people in one of the top 10% most deprived areas in the country.

Phoenix food shop is run by volunteers and provides food and toiletries for 200 people, the equivalent of 60 households each week.

If you drop off your donations to Mithras Halls or Phoenix Halls you will be supporting Phoenix Food Shop.

If you are or any other University of Brighton student are in need, please go to one of Brighton Students’ Union’s Pantries found on every campus, where you can get access to FREE non-perishable food and toiletries during term time.
