Checking In With You Autumn 2023 survey

Checking In With You survey – takes just 5 mins

As you settle into the semester, I would like to check in with you to find out about your experience at university so far, reflecting on what has gone well and how we can support you through any challenges or make improvements.

The Checking in With You survey is designed to help us improve the experience and support available to our students. The survey explores your sense of belonging at university, looking at how engaged you are with your studies and how confident you are that you will achieve your full potential.

The survey is now open and takes just 5 minutes to complete. You will also be entered into a prize draw to win one of ten £10 UniCard top-ups – please don’t miss the opportunity to give us your valuable feedback.

Sharing your experience directly shapes our university. We use your feedback to build on good practices and to make improvements where needed. In response to previous student feedback we have:

  • Funded Belong at Brighton welcome activities to help you connect with your course and peers.
  • Introduced Student Engagement Partners to help shape the welcome experience and promote student voice through the year.
  • Introduced ‘Skills for a Successful Start’ sessions with the Skills Hub to better transition new students to university.
  • Provided greater support with finding part-time work and advice on managing money.
  • Launched a project to provide clear marking criteria relevant to each assessment across all your modules.
  • Introduced a new assessment ‘border zone’ for postgraduate students – meaning if you’ve achieved a total grade within 2% of a classification boundary, and at least 50% of your credits at Level 7 are in the higher classification, your exam board may upgrade your degree award to the higher classification.
  • Enhanced My Studies features to provide you with a more modern and user friendly experience.
  • Continued our programme to roll out lecture capture across campus, to provide you with recorded lectures.
  • Upheld the #NeverOK pledge to uphold a safe and respectful environment for all.
  • Provided paid opportunities for students to continue to shape our university by being an Inclusive Practice Partner, Digital Learning Partner or Student Engagement Partner.

Thanks for taking the time to share your valuable thoughts and experience.

Best wishes,

Dr David Walker,
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education and Students)
