Inside the cycle storage - lockers and stands

New Moulsecoomb secure cycle storage now open

Following the recent opening of the Moulsecoomb Parking facility, we are pleased to confirm that the cycle store on the ground floor of the building is now open for student use.

Unicard access will allow easy access to the cycle store, shower and drying room facilities.

Accessing the facilities

Access to the facilities is via the entrance on the eastern side of the Parking facility, accessible from the pathway on the Watts side of the building only.

Please note that for health and safety reasons, no cycle access is permitted via either the road entrance to the Parking facility or the adjacent pedestrian pathway until the construction of our new Academic Building is complete.

Cyclists should dismount before entering the Parking facility site as directed by local signage.

Watch the video below for the route into the cycle storage area from near the Watts building:

Applying for a locker padlock

Lockers are available for student use in the cycle store, with use of a university padlock. A £5 deposit is required for a locker padlock.

Applicants should fill out the application form before printing and visiting the Parking and Transport office on the ground floor of the Parking facility to collect a padlock. The office is open Monday – Friday, 9am – 3pm.

Please note that those wishing to use the cycle store facilities without using a locker can do so without the need to pay a deposit for a padlock.

Mithras cycle cage

Following the installation of contractor cabins adjacent to the Mithras annexe, it will be necessary to remove the Mithras cycle cage to maintain a safe access route to the building for emergency services. It is expected that the cage will be moved in the next three weeks and further details will be provided shortly.

Cyclists currently using the cage will be asked to use the new cycling facilities on the west side of the Lewes Road once the cage has been removed. A number of Sheffield stands will remain however outside the Mithras annexe.

Cycling facilities and sustainable travel

The University encourages all students, staff and visitors to travel as sustainably as possible to and from our campuses, and is working to improve cycling facilities across the University estate.

Information about the University’s cycling facilities can be found on the c-change sustainable travel pages, including the cycle facilities map, and further information on other sustainable travel options and discounts for students.
