The one thing that could make you more attractive to employers
Getting yourself a job straight out of university can be harder than it sounds.
But all is not lost. According to a new study, employers are particularly impressed by students who do volunteering work.
They obviously want candidates with the right skillsets. But they also want to hire students who go above and beyond to give back to their community, according to a report by Robert Half titled “Notes for the Class of 2018” (via the Metro).
This is good news for Brighton students because our volunteering service, Active Student, has loads of great volunteering opportunities for you to pick from, including some fantastic summer opportunities.
Find a great volunteer placement
In recent months our students have volunteered with The Bevy community pub, with the food charity Brighton and Hove Food Partnership, and with the world’s oldest electric railway, Volks Railway.
Active Student is open to all students at the university and can provide you with volunteering placements in your community that are rewarding, safe and supported.
In return, you get to develop your employability skills, gain valuable experience, and make new connections.
