Supporting Students with the cost of living: Brighton Students’ Union
- Author: Ilia Mirsky Katz
Hi everyone, I am Ilia Brighton Students’ Union President, along with the University, we’re committed to easing the pressures of the cost of living and making sure you have the support you need to thrive at university.
Check out some of the ways that we are supporting our students:
The Pantry
Running low on money and groceries? The Pantry’s got your back. Located on every campus, it’s your go-to spot for FREE non-perishable food and toiletries. Swing by during term time, grab what you need, and rest assured knowing that you’ve got a support system right here on campus. And if you’re in a position to give back, we always welcome donations to keep The Pantry stocked up and ready to help more students.
Period dignity
We’ve secured funding from the university to provide free sanitary products in all ground-floor toilets across our campuses. It’s a small gesture, but one we hope will make a big difference in supporting students with the cost of living. We believe that access to menstrual hygiene products is a basic human right, and we’re proud to take a step towards achieving period equity on our campus.
Microwaves on campus
Bringing your own lunch to campus is a great way to with microwaves scattered across all campuses, reheating your leftovers has never been easier. Check out the locations listed below to find the nearest one to you.
Eastbourne: Aldro G14 (Social & Informal Learning space), Sprinters restaurant
Falmer: Ringmer House Students’ Union Common Room
Grand Parade: Grand Parade Restaurant
