This Module is named Introduction to Fashion Illustration and Imaging. The brief we have been given instructed us to use Folk as our base for research and inspiration. We need to research and understand the meaning of Folk /Folklore. The meaning is “The traditions of beliefs, customs, and stories of a community, passed through the generations by word of mouth. Folk usually refers to a local community, people forming a tribe or nation”. Therefore we need to create a zine that explores new creative responses to that theme.

During the first week I met up with my group members, Jess and Kris, to discuss our primary research and ideas. We flicked through magazines and made a collage / mind map of scenes and outfits that looked similar to some Folk elements while brainstorming ideas.

So far I am excited to learn more about creative development while in a group, as this is a skill I have always lacked and been afraid of due to lack of confidence and being able to make other ideas work with mine – I like to feel in control of my projects. I do feel like I’m already struggling to link ideas with the base idea “Folk”. However, I hope I learn from members in my group and also develop on some personal skills this topic.
