Inclusive practice

Aim: to ensure inclusive practices, skills and attitudes being developed amongst staff and students

How: The University of Brighton has an inclusive practice toolkit to support inclusive teaching practices.

Considerations:

  1. Are the learning outcomes, content, mode / pace of delivery and assessments adapted to the learning context and diversity of learners?
  2. Is the diversity of the students and staff viewed / utilised as a learning resource?
  3. To develop skills provide incremental and formative opportunities e.g. prior to a summative presentation, present 1:2, then 1:4, then half the group, then the whole group.
  4. Make sure lecturers are available during study weeks, offer booked classrooms for revision / tutorial.
  5. Offer all learning content  as downloadable e.g. upload recordings of lectures
