A busy but fun day at Ditchling with Jenny Dean where we set up 4 dye pots this time: Logwood (Purple), Sappanwood (pink red) and Fustic (warm yellow) and Indigo
Indigo – the dye paste is carefully added to the dye bath
…addition of hydrosulphite
keeping a lid on it helps to reduce the oxygenation – the water should be green
samples show the transformation from green to blue as the colour oxygenates
