Newsha Tavakolian’s collection called Portraits of Iran’s Middle-Class Youth  captures the “pressures and isolation facing the middle-class youth in Tehran” (Magnum Photos, 2010). For the youth in Tehran ‘Sense of Place’ is non-existent due to the “conformed society” (Tavakolian, 2010) that they live in. Tavakolian’s inspiration came from her own experience after living with the same “cold concrete” view for ten years. From the photographs you immediately can sympathise with the oppression and “lack of hope for the future” each individual has.
