Portfollio

When I was given the photography brief of “Sense of Place” I had numerous ideas on what I could do to capture the essence of a location which resonated with me. My aim in this assignment was to capture a collection of images which focused on an area I’d not previously experienced before, whilst challenging myself at the same time.

Having always loved venturing out to practice photography during the day, I decided this time I would like to shake my work up by choosing to shoot during the night time. Working on my photography during the late hours of the night really helped me home my skills without being surrounded by pedestrians from the day. In my opinion, the closest sense of place to me was the state of mind I felt when being with my camera, practicing something I enjoy.

I found through going out at night with friends that Brighton has a vibrant and pulsating nightlife. This created many great photo opportunities, as I began working in a nightclub as a work experience opportunity.  This allowed me to expand my portfolio even more, as the images captured helped diversify my work and show Brighton’s entertaining side.
