[:en]In 2015 the 2030 sustainable development goals agenda was adopted by all United Nations Member States. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals Agenda is effectively a blueprint for a shared peace and prosperity for both mankind and the environment for future years and right now. At the heart of this agenda are 17 goals which are all urgent calls for action by all countries, both developed and developing, that are part of this global partnership. These goals are listed below.

  • Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

This agenda not only focuses on strengthening the harmony between the people, the planet and prosperity, it also focuses on eradicating all forms of poverty as it is an indispensable requirement for the developments of sustainability. The agenda is focusing on repairing and freeing the human race from the issues of poverty to be able to move on by healing and securing the planet. I have previously spoken about Ban ki-Moon and his understanding of an article from ‘The Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing’ explaining that the health and wellbeing of a child is important for them to feel nurtured and empowered during their journey of development into a decent and successful grown up. Without the basic life skills to acknowledge Breaking the poverty cycle starts with the empowerment of the youth, leaving no one behind. Striving to leave no one behind is at the forefront of their work and getting these individuals involved through empowerment programs is a great way to help them to better their lives and, thus, the environment.

In 2015 the heads of state and government and high representatives met at the united nations headquarters in New York to discuss and decide the new global sustainable development goals on the 17th anniversary of the organisation. The agenda is fully committed to achieving sustainable development within its three dimensions; economic, social and environmental, in a combined and balanced way. The leaders have highlighted their want to carry on from the original millennial sustainable development goal agenda, carrying on the goals that were not met. A consent factor that keeps being brought up within this agenda that the idea of collectively working towards reaching these goals, leaving no one behind. Working together as a mass community is a factor that is constantly being brought up through-out my research and seems to be the underlining theme which will be a factor at the heart of my campaign.
