styling board
We created a second mood board to display our styling and make-up ideas that we wanted to create in our shoot. This also included colour palettes and inspiration from primary research sources such as Southbank and artwork in Tate Modern. We also included street style images and styling experimentation looking at layering denim, which we’ve realised we’d like to feature strongly in our fashion story. We also looked at make-up from Marc Jacobs SS16, who used striking blue eyeshadow to match the strong blue tones in the collection – we thought of recreating this and using blue eye make-up to co-ordinate with the denim we use in each look.
styling & photography: concept board
Rosie and I created a joint moodboard to display our initial ideas for our fashion story once deciding on our concept. We were inspired by the nearby skatepark in Brighton to create an urban/skater look but combined with girly colours, patterns and shapes. This A1 concept board shows our first sources of inspiration and ideas, for example The Level skatepark, interesting street art in North Laine as well as Southbank, and influences from brands/designers and films. We’ve included an image of heavy denim by Ashish, as well as Zara’s ‘A New Grunge’ campaign which features denim and pin badges/patches combined with feminine and often sophisticated, polished pieces to create an interesting contrast. A photo by Harmony Korine features painting/illustration over the top which we thought will help to develop our ideas further as it adds more layers and detail to the imagery and also fits with the idea of street art and graffiti. The large black and white photograph we found in the antique/thrift store Snooper’s Paradise, which displays an empty urban scene which inspired us for possible locations.
