updated concept
Sustainable living is becoming more present within our daily lives due to growing significance, importance and popularity. We intend to make a large difference within a small community by focusing on the impacts that the fashion and textile industry has on society and the environment around it. Our concept ultimately aims to minimise the fashion and textile landfill waste in order to target a portion of the damage that this industry regularly contributes. To do so, we intend to create a brand of utilitarian style high performance clothing that focuses on the importance of upcycling and mending of discarded garments and fabrics whilst additionally providing elements of style personality and uniqueness. Each garment will be produced along side a story of how they have been mended to allow the garments new owner insight into how they can prolong the life of their other clothing ultimately minimising the amount of textile going to waste. Of course however there will be some waste product from the production of these garments, that will then be collected and shared amongst the lower income population of the brighton community alongside free and accessible sewing, stitching, patching and fixing instructions that will be readily avaliable on our digital platforms. This not only means that new garments are being produced from old ones but also means that a community of all income and wealth is involved in one product together without the need of a high income that sustainable clothing usually has attached to it. Finally we intended to use the garments found in textile waste that are in the best of qualities to be donated and given to the lower income members of the community to reduce the need of fast fashion companies
