The Green Group Team

The Green Group

Our team is a collective of inspired students who hope to make a difference within CM4K. Each one of us has applied our set of skills to achieve a campaign that both represents us as a team and the charity we are working for.

George

George’s technical assets towards the group were photography, cinematography and a niche variety of editing softwares. As well as those assets, George brought a confident approach to the task at hand and was a chatty friendly person.  His interests within the project helped with communication as well as understanding due to his knowledge of STG’s from his environmental and media degree that he is currently doing. George really helped with the story aspect of the the project, he did this through the taking of pictures for the bake sale and website as seen here as well as the production and producing of a video.

Charlotte

Charlotte has spent the last 3 summers working for Archelon, a Greek NGO, which protects loggerhead sea turtles, where she gained a lot of experience in building and executing targeted engagement and fundraising programs. Charlotte also worked with community partners to build support and try to change attitudes (and thus behaviours) around the subject. Where she was managing a team of 20-30 international volunteers, so Charlotte become pretty adept at working with groups of people with a wide range of skills and finding ways they can use them to give their best to the project and get the most they can out of it.

As a volunteer locally for Greenpeace,  Charlotte recently collected signatures for the Antarctic campaign around uni. So, this shows how confident she is with initiating conversations with strangers. For 6 years Charlotte worked in product development and licensing, so has  a lot of experience of brand development, networking and negotiating with companies of varying sizes. On top of this, she has been doing freelance graphic design for a few years, so handy for creating posters, flyers and pretty much anything for web or print.

Henry

Henry studies Environment and Media Studies. Where last semester he took the Video Production module, which allowed him to develop skills with camera and audio equipment. He also developed outreach skills when trying to find relevant people to interview for his project, this is something we felt would be important in implementing any community campaign. He is also an member of People and Planet, a charity organization that puts pressure on universities to partake in more ethical/sustainable practices. This helped him understand how a campaign is run much like Charlotte and was influential in planning CM4K

Mati

Along with all of us Mati is also on the Environment and Media course. He has had some experience relevant to this course with the charity organisation Greenpeace while he was living in Finland. More recently, he has  been an active member of Brighton University’s People and Planet society. In addition the Business, Creative Industries and Innovation course that he took in semester 1 challenged him to think creatively which was a valuable asset in this course because of his business management .

Rica

Rica, is a smart women who took the lead in the bake sale, she communicated our CM4K project to the members of the public using storytelling techniques, whilst also selling them delightful cakes and confectionery. On top of this, she has also worked with video and audio devices in her Video Production 1 module along side Henry. We often met up at Rica’s house to discuss the project, she was very good at keeping us focused with the task at hand. Rica has also spent a year in South Africa as a volunteer coordinator at a predator park, where she learnt valuable group leadership skills which have been largely utilised in this campaign.

Immy

Bfore joining Environment and Media, Immy studied Photography and lens based media after finishing her A-Levels. She has done photography for events and trips in the past and independent organisation. On top of this, she has media editing skills and good people skills. She has done a number of volunteering events such as running children’s summer camps etc and going into special needs schools to help and is very good at organising a group in the spur of a moment and getting communication going.
