making paper at home no. 1

After our first session of making paper at uni, I decided to try and make some at home. I wanted to experiment with equipment to see whether I could use something similar to a deckle, like a fat splatter or sieve. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as I would have liked as the paper was a lot thicker than expected and quite coarse in texture. On reflection, I feel this is due to step 1 as I think I did not blend the pulp enough or perhaps the pulp was not spread thinly enough. However, despite this, I did manage to make a piece of paper! On a positive note, I used various different papers, such a coloured and patterned paper, brown paper, tissue paper and various pieces from the recycling, which I feel has contributed to the mauve ish colour of the paper, which is something I particularly like.
