Darkroom photography

Here is a quick snap of what myself and the other members of my group got up to during our analogue photography and darkroom sessions. We were asked to complete a task where we had to take several pictures according to the requirements. In other words, some with an aperture priority, others with a shutter speed priority, capturing blurred movement, shallow depth of field and finally frozen movement. Once this was completed, the films were sent off to be ready for us to turn into contact sheets. To do so, we cut our negatives into tripes of 6 and put into a negative sleeve/page. We went into the darkroom, using resin coated paper with a glossy finish made a contact sheet as shown above. The purpose of this was for compositional purposes, in other words to identify successful images you may want to enlarge later. Additionally, we learnt some key principles to this process. For example, any principle in the darkroom is emulsion to emulsion and the active side of the emulsion side of the paper is known as silver halide.
