There is a vast amount written on Engels, and the best place to start for those new to his work is probably with some of his own writings, particularly classic texts such as The Communist Manifesto (co-written with Marx) and Socialism: Utopian and Scientific – many of Engels’s writings are available online at the Marx-Engels Archive
