L5 Fashion Communication with Business Studies students have been exploring the limits of fashion publishing and exhibiting their publications ay the Magazine Shop in Brighton, decorating their window and selling the magazines as part of the thriving independent industry in Brighton & Hove.
This is for sure one of the most exciting and challenging projects our second-year students undertake. They split up into 6 groups of 8 students and each group then create a fashion/lifestyle magazine to the highest professional industry standards. This is a collaboration with the Magazine Shop here in Brighton, who then at the end of the project put our magazines on display for sale.
This year was wonderfully successful with our magazines out selling many of the shops biggest international established fashion and lifestyle best sellers.
This vocational project is all about enhancing the student’s future employability, through team work, communicating and working professionally with each other, the staff and the Magazine Shop. This also empowers the students with greater confidence in their abilities as many will after the year end be moving on to do their placements in some of Europe top fashion houses and publications.
