3D Design & Craft students wow the organisers of this year’s New Designers Show

The New Designers Show 2022 saw 2,500 hand-picked graduate design talents from around the UK exhibit their work to continuous streams of industry scouts and agencies across two weeks in June/July. Our very own third-year 3D Design and Craft students secured their spot at the centre of all the action, showcasing their ambitious ideas and fresh approaches to design.

The School of Art and Media students pulled together to fund and decorate their stand, making a big impression on the New Designers organisers and the other UK university students exhibiting around them.

The School of Art and Media Placements team funded tickets and travel for 30 widening participation* undergraduate and postgraduate students to support their peers and gather inspiration for their own design ideas and careers. 87% of this group said that attending the New Designers Show inspired them to further explore a design-related career, and 94% said that attending the New Designers Show helped contextualise their university studies and build a sense of belonging on their course.

One student shared that “New designers was an amazing opportunity to meet other designers and makers as well as career changing brands. I was inspired to make a professional Instagram portfolio.”

With plans already forming for next year’s show, the School of Art and Media hope to make their presence bigger and better next year to continue wowing the public with their exceptional students’ visions…
