Annie features in “The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft” alongside other creatives to make mythical creature puppets as a one-off craft for celebrity client Eamonn Holmes.
While at University of Brighton Annie created Manuel the MantaRay. This project was an exploration into plastic pollution in the sea, and increasing biological threats sea-creatures are facing from micro-plastics.
Annie said, “Creating my own sheet material from discarded plastic waste, I created a series of characters, each of whom depicts the issue towards their kind, aiming to enlighten the audience through humour and an underlying message: a creative-craft campaign.”
The way MantaRay’s gills filter their food is ingenious, and is being looked at by scientists as a way to clean plastic out of the sea. By the time this concept becomes a reality, MantaRays will have been wiped out by micro-plastic pollution. Created from plastic waste and steel, Manuel the MantaRay is a creative-craft campaign.
