This post is now outdated. Please click here to see this updated post on how to transfer your videos
Earlier this year we spoke about the proposed changes to how we handle video and screen capture here at the university. We now have details on how this process will be managed, which are described below.
The Moving Process
Central Media Services will be working with the eLearning team to coordinate the moving of videos from Relay to mediastream. Staff will choose which videos to transfer, we will not be moving all videos across as this is inefficient and many videos are not longer required.
Identifying videos that require moving
All staff that have used Camtasia/Techsmith Relay, or Fuse, should log into their Relay account to view videos stored on this server. They can then identify which videos are still required, and request for these to be moved.
- This guide will assist you in identifying your Relay videos that need moving
- The form required to detail any videos that require moving can be found here
Staff should complete the form for their own videos. When complete, they should email the form as an attachment to Cathy Frankland (c.frankland@brighton.ac.uk). Any forms received by the end of July will be processed ready for start of term. Any received after this date will still be processed in due course.
Relay videos within studentcentral
To help facilitate this process we have also identified any Relay videos linked to from 2016 and 2017 modules within studentcentral. This information will be sent to school admin managers to disseminate to the relevant course leaders, who can work with module leaders to identify any affected videos. These can be transferred using the form as explained above.
Relinking videos from studentcentral
Once your videos have been moved, you will need to relink the video into the relevant studentcentral area. A guide on how to do this can be found here
