Art Teachers Organisation launch day

To launch the University of Brighton Art Teachers Organisation (UBATO) a free workshop day was held last Saturday.

We were delighted to welcome more than 30 art educators who took part in a range of CPD workshops at the free event on the university’s Falmer campus.

Our workshops included sessions on creating and utilising sketchbooks, etching for the classroom, cyanotypes, utilising art history for the primary classroom, feltmaking and creative textile techniques to use within art.

Participants included current students, recent graduates, mentors and experienced teachers of both primary and secondary phases. A selection of art businesses also attended at lunchtime.

The participants brought artwork from their students to share which made for an inspirational display.

Participants went home at the end of the day, with new contacts, lots of new ideas and the artwork they had created. They also received goodie boxes from our partner businesses.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive with comments including:

“What a lovely opportunity to share ideas and network with art educators as well as learning new skills yourself.”

“Inspiring, wellbeing – a day for me.”

“A fantastic day with loads of opportunities to network and brush up on new, and old techniques.”

“A wonderful mix of likeminded people and fun workshops. Thank you.”

“A super day! Informative and great to have time to play and experiment.”

“I will be recommending schools to join – amazing value and networking opportunity.”

Find out how you can join UBATO and come along to future workshop days.
