The research project examined the different curriculum resources – including textbooks – that primary schools and teachers in England used to structure and teach primary mathematics. It aimed to understand how schools and teachers choose what to use and, once a decision is made, how these different resources are used. The project also aimed to understand how factors, such as funding availability (including the Department for Education funding-initiative to support the purchase of approved textbook schemes) and school demographics impact decision-making.
This event will be of interest to anyone involved in funding, developing, selecting, or using, any and all curriculum resources – from physical textbooks to online platforms – in primary mathematics in England. The presentation will highlight the key findings of the project and from these draw out calls to action for stakeholders from policy-makers to publishers to practitioners.
