Art Teachers Organisation workshop day

The University of Brighton Art Teachers Organisation (UBATO) held its second members workshop on Saturday 11 February. What an exciting day it was too!

Workshops on offer included:

  • Wacky weaving and fabulous fibres
  • Creative Coding
  • STEAM workshop using a newspaper STIX machine
  • Creating glass mosaics
  • becoming familiar with IPAD drawing apps
  • creating an animation using children’s artwork
  • Shibori dying
  • Do It Now Tasks
  • creating abstract art on photoshop.

Selecting which workshops to take part in was a very difficult task!

UBATO members were also asked to bring in artwork from their school setting to share and celebrate the brilliant ideas and expertise going on in schools. There are some innovative projects happening and it’s an exciting time to collaborate more with each other.

Ultimately the day was about having fun, being creative, regaining inspiration for teaching our subject, learning new techniques to take back to the classroom and networking with like-minded people. What better way to start the half term holiday?

Quotes from the day included:

“Thank you so much. I always find myself feeling 100% more energised and passionate for the start of a new term after a UBATO workshop day.”

“I have had a wonderful day learning some new techniques and meeting some great people, thank you.”

UBATO Membership is full for the 2022-23 academic year but there are a limited number of non-member places available for the next workshop on 20 May.
